U.S. slag cement continues to exceed previous year shipments. 2021 was another record year reaching 4.3 million short tons. The most ever sold in the U.S. Slag cement as a percentage of Portland cement increased as well ending 2021 at 3.9% for 2021 Blended cements (IS and IT) shipments continue to increase year over year. Because of the performance characteristics, the demand for slag cement will continue to grow. To keep up with the demand new plants and imports will continue to grow as well.
